From their base at Ingmanthorpe Hall in Yorkshire, Richard and Morgan have built HK Horses into more than just a competition yard. It is a home for producing talented young horses, a hub for international sport, and a place where riders and horses alike are given the chance to develop to their full potential. Their combined vision—balancing ambition with patience, and performance with care—has made HK Horses a trusted name on the showjumping circuit.
Richard, originally from Ireland’s west coast, moved to England at just 17 to pursue his dream of showjumping. Early in his career he worked for the legendary Michael Whitaker before stepping out on his own to build a stable with his now wife, Morgan. Over the years, Richard has climbed the ranks on the international stage, riding in 5* competitions and Nations Cups, with multiple victories and podium finishes to his name, including two back-to-back FEI World Cup wins. His philosophy – “meeting the horse in the middle” – guides his approach, focusing on respect, adaptability, and developing each horse as an individual.
Morgan, from the UK, brings complementary skills and expertise to the HK Horses team. With her own competitive success, both in eventing and showjumping, she has a deep understanding of stable management and young horse production. She oversees the smooth running of the yard, as well as the considerable breeding operation, and plays a vital role in shaping the horses’ education and progress. Her organisational strength and attention to detail ensure that both horses and riders are prepared to perform at their best, while also nurturing the long-term growth of the stable.

Rachel is an accomplished stable rider for HK Horses. Since joining the team, Rachel has worked hard and quickly progressed, earning herself the Young Rider European Championship title in the summer of 2025, as well as becoming renowned for her multiple Puissance wins!
